The Grindhouse@BTalk100-(Inter)National Protests; Hill Harper's Faux Pas?; JSA Movie: MAGA Loves Black People! (Uh Oh)

Hundalasiliah! Let's try to keep an upbeat demeanor in spite of (inter)national protests and a global pandemic, shall we?  Welcome to another installment of Afronerd Radio's The Grindhouse broadcast airing this Sunday at 6pm eastern.  Your Ultimate AFROnerdist hosts will be discussing the following topics:  the obvious elephant in the room, the unprecedented national and now global protests following the recorded killing of black Minneapolis native, George Floyd-including property damage, arrest of CNN reporters, physical attacks and even the appearance of a low budget Hawkeye...wow;  Oh and President Trump avows that MAGA really loves "the black people"; noted actor, Hill Harper got into twitter trouble due to his mistaken "misgendering" of Dwyane Wade's trans child, Zaya;  and in softer, kinder blerd news, Warner Bros. will purportedly develop a Justice Society of America (JSA) movie, if Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam fares well at the box office (in that edifice called a theater?); Comic Book Resources is reporting that movie companies might be exploring screenings of their films bu using video games as a conduit-is it a stroke of genius or strange?; oh and Henry Cavill is returning to the Superman character but its debatable if there will be a Man of Steel 2, however; and so Nubia, Wonder Woman's sister (of color) finally gets her close up via an upcoming comic slated for a February '21 release;  Trump signs and executive order threatening media companies' liability protections perhaps spurred by his recent problems with his inaccurate statements (ahem...lies)  on Twitter; And lastly, COVID-19 plus one American farm equals a disaster.  Call LIVE at 508-645-0100.

Hey folks!  Check out our latest episode of Afronerd Radio's The Grindhouse, airing every Sunday at 6pm eastern, courtesy of BTalk 100.  Join your resident AFROnerdist broadcasters as they journey to the unknown via a cavalcade of otherworldly topics such as: it looks like the Democratic presidential front runner, VP Joe Biden put his proverbial foot in his mouth (when has he not) regarding the black vote during an interview with noted political correspondent, "Charlamagne tha God" (hardy har har); Oh and some on twitter dared to liken "Charla" as the next James Baldwin (we're in severe trouble folks) scientists are walking back their predictions that the US could be COVID-19 free by September;  the UK Independent has an interesting piece on the coronavirus perhaps being indirectly responsible for the creation of new brilliant art; who knew that there's a censored version of Back to the Future II?;  and then there's that nursing home video......wow; oh Dburt's PSA regarding the efficacy of wearing a mask during this crisis; for a minute NASA had the world thinking that Earth 2 or the idea of a multiverse was real...not quite;  The Comic Beat provides a more obvious reason for the release of The Snyder Cut of The Justice League; and if the Snyder cut can get released, why not JLA animated? more from The Comic Beat regarding the survivability of the comic industry during and post COVID-19; is Tenet doing and telling too much in this latest trailer?; a new NY Times article highlights the evolving trend of placing black actresses as paramours in interracial romance films;  and lastly, in the world of video games, are VG programmers/manufacturers going to far with the ability to customize genitalia in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game?  Call in LIVE at 1-508-645-0100.

WED 8pm-Mid Week in Review @Btalk100-Batwoman; ObamaGate?; Da 5 Bloods; Stargirl

Greetings to our new as well as our longstanding Afronerd Radio listeners, especially those who have followed us to our new platform at BTalk 100.  Join your favorite AFROnerdist podcasters for the latest installment of the infamous Mid Week in Review (MWIR) broadcast airing this Wednesday at 8pm eastern. The topics to be analyzed like a certain virus under a UV lamp are: purportedly, the infamous Snyder cut of The Justice League is actually being slated for release thanks to HBO Max-Dburt is probably the sole blerd that is less than enthused; the internets are reporting that actress Ruby Rose is leaving the CW's Batwoman series in spite of the show receiving a green light for a second season; Dburt checked out the pilot ep of DC Universe's Stargirl and liked it; in the wake of the Trump administration's less than stellar handling of the current COVID-19 crisis, one has to ask (why) what is Obamagate?; and what did former Bush Senior Advisor, Karl Rove mean when he stated that President Obama's HBCU commencement address was akin to a "drive-by shooting?"; legendary filmmaker, Spike Lee is having what appears to be a renaissance at least based on his latest trailer for Netflix movie, Da 5 Bloods scheduled for a June 12, 2020 release date; they just can't seem to get a enough of Michael Jordan!  First, there's the Netflix Last Dance limited series and now VICE just released a trailer focusing on the cultural impact of Air Jordans, entitled One Man and His Shoes; and per usual, we might have to address some issues that were left on the table from the previous Grindhouse show; according to BleedingCool.com, Marvel is ramping up their shipping schedule for new product by mid July.....but will patrons respond in kind?; it seems that the debate about race and timing is never ending with the continuing Living Single vs Friends "verzuz" kerfuffle; Dburt revisits the idea and earlier announcement of a New Jack City remake (can/should it be done); our thoughts about an upcoming (well tonight!) Netflix series about South African students attending a fictional elite school, entitled Blood & Water; And lastly, Dburt weighs in AGAIN (for the umpteenth time) on the fake outrage levied against TV personality, Hannah Brown's usage of the n-word while singing rap lyrics on Instagram (I guess we can't demand better black corporate music, huh?)  Call LIVE at 1-508-645-0100.
